Gates Cambridge Scholarship 2024-2025: Every year, Gates Cambridge provides approximately 80 fully-funded scholarships to exceptional candidates from countries other than the UK. These scholarships allow recipients to pursue a postgraduate degree in any field offered at the University of Cambridge. Roughly 66% of these accolades will be granted to doctoral candidates, with around 25 rewards accessible in the US round and 55 accessible in the International round.

Benefits of the Gates Cambridge Scholarship 2024-2025

The Gates Cambridge Scholarship 2024-2025 fully funds the expenses associated with studying at Cambridge University. Furthermore, it offers supplementary, optional funding.

Core Components

The tuition fee at the applicable rate of the University Composition Fee.
The maintenance payment for a single student is £20,000 for a duration of 12 months at the 2023-24 rate. For courses shorter than 12 months, the allowance is adjusted proportionally.
For PhD scholars, the award is provided for a maximum of 4 years.
One round-trip economy airfare at the commencement and conclusion of the course.
The expenses associated with obtaining a visa and the fees for the Immigration Health Surcharge.
The University composition Fee differs for various categories of students. Prospective students may refer to the Graduate Studies prospectus for comprehensive information regarding the exact fees. If a student has successfully obtained a fee award from public bodies, such as the UKRI, they should accept it. In this case, the Trust will not cover their charge or may only partially cover their fee and maintenance expenses.

Optional elements

The Trust also evaluates proposals for other forms of supplementary support at its discretion:

Academic development support ranges from £500 to £2,000, depending on the duration of your degree. This grant is available for attending conferences and courses.
The Dependent Children Allowance provides financial support of up to £11,604 for one kid and up to £16,548 for two or more children, based on the 2023-24 rate. No financial support is allocated to a partner.
Fieldwork – you can request to receive your regular maintenance allowance while conducting fieldwork as part of your PhD. However, the Trust does not provide funding for any fieldwork expenses, as these should be covered by the University Composition Fee.
If you need it, you can apply for maternity/paternity financing to temporarily pause your studies for a maximum of 6 months. During this period, you will still get your maintenance allowance.
Hardship support is available to scholars who encounter unforeseen hardships.
If you are presently enrolled at Cambridge University and desire to pursue a new postgraduate programme, you have the opportunity to apply for a Gates Cambridge Scholarship. For instance, individuals who are presently engaged in MPhil studies have the opportunity to seek a Gates Cambridge Scholarship in order to pursue a PhD. Existing Gates Cambridge Scholars have the opportunity to apply for an additional scholarship if they are seeking a new academic qualification. All current students enrolled at Cambridge University will be regarded as participants in the second phase of the worldwide selection process. Nevertheless, if you have already commenced a course (such as being in the middle of a PhD programme), you are ineligible to seek a Gates Cambridge Scholarship to finance the remaining portion of your studies.
